Can a work permit holder apply?
GoodLoan may accept an application from a qualifying open work permit holder in Manitoba or Ontario. The applicant must also meet age, identity, address, banking, income and affordability requirements. An employer-specific or other permit may require additional review under GoodLoan’s current policy.
Permit validity matters because the proposed repayment schedule must fit the applicant’s authorized status and income outlook. GoodLoan’s current eligibility design may require the permit to remain valid for more than twice the requested loan term. The final underwriting decision controls.
Documents work permit holders may need
Immigration documents
A valid passport and work permit showing the permit type, conditions and expiry date.
Employment and income
Recent paystubs, employer details, job information and matching bank deposits.
Address and banking
Proof of a current Manitoba or Ontario address and an active Canadian bank account.
How the requested term affects eligibility
A work permit has an expiry date. Therefore, GoodLoan considers both the remaining validity and the length of the proposed loan. A shorter request may fit the policy when a longer term does not, although changing the term never guarantees approval.
Applicants should provide the current permit and disclose any pending extension accurately. A submitted extension application does not automatically replace an expired document or guarantee that GoodLoan can rely on future status.
Work permit holder eligibility checklist
- Currently live in Manitoba or Ontario
- Hold an eligible, valid work permit
- Meet GoodLoan’s remaining-validity requirement
- Receive verifiable and regular income
- Use an active Canadian bank account
- Have enough income after essential expenses and debts
Before requesting a loan
Review the permit expiry date, employment outlook and payment schedule together. In addition, consider how a job change or gap in authorized work could affect repayment. Requesting a smaller amount or shorter term may reduce total interest, but the scheduled payment could increase.
How the GoodLoan online application works
Choose a reasonable amount
Request only what you need and consider whether the scheduled payment fits your regular budget.
Provide your information
Complete the application with accurate identity, address, employment, income, expense and debt details.
Complete verification
GoodLoan may request identity checks, income documents, bank statements and authorized credit information.
Review any offer
If approved, read the principal, interest rate, APR, payment schedule, total cost, fees and borrower rights before signing.
Submitting information does not guarantee approval, a particular amount or rate, or funding. Verification and underwriting requirements apply.
Compare the payment and total borrowing cost
A smaller scheduled payment may look easier to manage. However, a longer term can increase the total interest paid. Therefore, compare the annual interest rate, annual percentage rate (APR), number of payments, payment amount, total cost of borrowing and total repayment.
GoodLoan does not charge an application fee under its current product design. In addition, early full or partial repayment is intended without a prepayment penalty. Review the final agreement because it controls the actual terms.
Personal loans and lines of credit for work permit holders
This page describes a personal installment loan, with an agreed principal and repayment schedule. A revolving line of credit is a different product. If you are looking for a line of credit, check the provider’s eligibility and repayment terms rather than assuming this application covers it.

Frequently asked questions
Does GoodLoan accept every type of work permit?
No. GoodLoan may consider qualifying permit holders, but permit type, conditions, validity and other eligibility requirements apply.
How long must my permit remain valid?
GoodLoan’s current policy may require remaining validity longer than twice the requested loan term. Confirm the requirement during the application.
Can I use proof that I applied for an extension?
GoodLoan may review it as supporting information, but a pending application does not guarantee eligibility or approval.
Can limited Canadian credit prevent me from applying?
You may still apply. GoodLoan considers verified income and affordability alongside available credit information.
Review the cost before you apply
Estimate a payment, review GoodLoan’s current rates and decide whether the loan fits your budget.
