Emergency personal loans in Canada
Emergency loans in Canada for necessary unexpected expenses
An urgent expense can disrupt even a careful budget. GoodLoan allows eligible borrowers to request an online personal installment loan for certain emergency costs, subject to verification, affordability, underwriting and availability.
What is an emergency loan?
An emergency loan is a personal loan that can help cover a necessary expense that cannot reasonably wait. However, the term “emergency loan” does not guarantee faster approval or funding. With an installment loan, you make scheduled payments over an agreed term instead of paying the full balance on your next payday.
GoodLoan generally accepts personal-loan requests from $100 to $20,000. Available terms are up to 48 months. Annual interest rates range from 5% to 30%, and the maximum APR is 31%. However, GoodLoan may offer less than you request because we review verified income, regular expenses, current debts and your ability to repay.

Before taking an emergency personal loan
Urgency can make it harder to compare costs. Before borrowing, ask the service provider about a payment plan, review available savings or insurance, check community assistance and compare the total repayment—not only the scheduled payment.
- Confirm the exact amount you need
- Review the interest rate and APR
- Check the number and frequency of payments
- Include every disclosed fee in the comparison
- Make sure essential expenses remain affordable after each payment
How to apply online
Complete the GoodLoan application with your identity, address, employment, income, expenses and existing obligations. You may be asked for government identification, recent paystubs, bank statements, proof of address or immigration documents. GoodLoan then completes verification and an affordability-focused underwriting review.
If approved, review the principal, annual interest rate, APR, payment schedule, total borrowing cost and total repayment before signing. You are not required to accept an offer.
Emergency loan questions
Can I get an emergency loan with lower credit?
A lower credit score does not automatically determine the decision. GoodLoan may also consider verified income, employment, expenses, debts and repayment capacity. Approval is not guaranteed.
How quickly will I receive funds?
Timing depends on application completeness, verification, underwriting, signing and payment processing. Do not make commitments based on anticipated funds until funding is confirmed.
Can I repay early?
GoodLoan’s current product design allows early repayment without a prepayment penalty. The final agreement controls.
What if I cannot afford the emergency-loan payment?
Do not accept the offer. Consider a smaller amount, a lower-cost alternative or assistance from a reputable nonprofit credit counsellor.
Review your options before borrowing
Estimate the cost and read the full terms before deciding whether an emergency personal loan fits your budget.
