Canadian installment loans
Installment loans in Canada with clear scheduled payments
GoodLoan personal installment loans allow approved borrowers to receive a fixed amount and repay it through weekly, bi-weekly or monthly payments under an agreed schedule.
How an installment loan works
An installment loan provides a fixed principal amount that is repaid over a stated term. Each agreement identifies the payment dates, payment amount, annual interest rate, APR, total cost of borrowing and total repayment. Unlike revolving credit, repaying the balance does not normally restore an available credit limit.
GoodLoan generally accepts requests from $100 to $20,000. Available terms and payment frequencies depend on the product, borrower circumstances and final approval.
Installment loan versus payday loan
Repayment
Installment loans use multiple scheduled payments; payday loans are typically short-term and tied closely to payday.
Cost comparison
Compare APR, fees and total repayment. A smaller payment can still lead to a larger total cost over a longer term.
Affordability review
GoodLoan reviews income, expenses and obligations before deciding whether a proposed installment schedule appears manageable.
What GoodLoan reviews
- Identity, address and Canadian residency information
- Employment and verifiable income
- Housing costs and ordinary living expenses
- Existing loans and financial obligations
- Recent bank activity and cash flow
- Credit information where permitted and consented to
- Requested amount, term and payment frequency
Meeting basic eligibility requirements does not guarantee approval. GoodLoan may approve a smaller amount or decline an application where the proposed payments do not appear affordable.
Documents commonly requested
Depending on the application, GoodLoan may request valid government photo identification, proof of address, recent paystubs, recent bank statements, employment details and applicable immigration documents. Additional documents may be required if information is missing, inconsistent or needs verification.
Compare the full borrowing cost
APR helps borrowers compare annualized borrowing costs, while the payment schedule shows how the debt is repaid. Review the total cost of borrowing and total repayment alongside the individual payment amount.
